Hi kristy...i dont know the answer about the epidural thing....but i know that every woman does NOT have to get cut during delivery. In fact, many dont. It's called an episiotomy and is only dont when the doctors fear that youll tear because the baby's head is large. And even if you do have to be cut, they st_tch you back up promptly and you are just fine. And they use local anesthetic so its pretty much painless :)

No, not every woman has to have an episiotomy. There are things that can be done to make your skin more stretchy (ma__sage when your skin is stretching to accomodate baby's head, warm / moist packs on your skin, etc...). These may help avoid an episiotomy. I had a couple shots of painkiller in the upper thigh when I was in labor, and did not have an epidural. I don't think there is anything else that numbs you as well as an epidural without the poke into the sack around your spinal column.

I had an epidural, and an episiotomy. With an epidural you don't feel much other than some pressure. I was afraid to poop for three days after I delivered because I thought I would tear the stiches. (Nothing happened when I finally did.) :)

Hi Kristy,
I had my little boy a week ago and I was cut, I didn't feel it at all I was pushing and my husband told me the doctor gave me 3 shots and cut me. I also had an epidural which helped me out a lot I would suggest an epidural to anyone, but I don't know any other options, but I'm sure there are some.

i didn't have to be cut, but i did tear a tiny bit. only had to have 2 st_tches!! i think there is something called sadol they can give you through iv. i was induced with my son and had pitocin, they gave me that sadol c___p....and it was seriously c___p. i could still feel the pain, i just felt drunk. i finally got an epidural and thought i was in heaven. i was in so much labor pain i didn't even feel them insert the needle for the epi.
