I live in ma__sachusetts and they keep you here around 3 days, couple days longer for a c-section.

my mom had my baby sister last year and she was in there for 3 days. if your labor is long, you'll be in there longer, but usually 1-2 days after the actual birth =) good luck

hi. I live in South Australia. With all my children i was only in for 1 night. I was told by the hospital you can stay for a couple of nights if you want to but they encourage the early discharge program(providing everything went fine with no complications, obviously). Im not sure if the hospitals have the same system in melbourne but thats what its like in adelaide.

Oh yeah, a c-section is up to 5 day stay

Sorry, i also forgot to say that if you choose to be discharged early (1-2days) then the midwife comes out to the house for the next couple of days.

A lot depends on you and your doctor as well. I had a c-section and was home 1.5 days later.

I am in Qld, Aust. For private hospitals, natural birth is 3-5 days and a bit longer for a c-section. But I loved being in hospital, I was looked after and fed and it was wonderful! I don't know how people leave after 1 day. I had never been in hopsital before and I had to stay in 3 nights at 31 wks pregnant so I had a little taste of it before hand which was good. Most hospitals do tours - definitely do that you will find it overcomes some of your worries. Good luck!
