Just A Question About What Constitutes A Labor

When I was in labor I was 1 1/2 cm. and was having contractions every 2-7 minutes.. the next day I was 3 cm. and was contracting still 2-7 minutes.. it was more like 2-3-2-5-2-7-minutes.. when I was monitored.. I both times when to the hospital.. I walked for hours in the hallway but no change.. I went home again very dissapointed.. the third day I went in I was 6 cm. and was contracting well I could not tell because I thought i was dying... so would you say I was in labor the first day or just the last day i went to the hospital.. by the way, when the doc put the epideral it took all of a minute for me to be at 9 1/2 cm.. I really needed the meds.. just a curiousity question.. because when people ask me how long was I in labor I never really know.. thanks

can anyone answer my question.. I want to be able to tell my lo when he gets older.. thanks.. I guess I can ask the doc but rather not.. thanks

my waters broke but i had no contractions i dont know how dilated i was either, ever, until i was induced. but the day b4 i was induced i was (what i thought was labour) i had contractions and couldnt sleep well but they didnt count that as labour until iwas induced i got induced then 8 hours later gave birth he was born within 5 mins of pushing, so that 8 hours for me was what they call labour. they didnt count that morning or night before and half a day as 'labour' it depends do you have a baby record book? with all the birthing details, it should be written in there the time, length of labour? hope i helped.
