I was due on July 2nd and so far nothing has happened. I've been taking long walks and having s_x and still no change. I started eating pineapple 5 hours ago and have eaten a ton of it, still nothing. Laura, you can try it. different things seem to work for different people, unfortunately nothing has worked for me, but hopefully you'll have better luck.

im 39 weeks, and at 38 weeks i was dilated 2cm. my dr told me he didnt think i would make it until my next appt, considering i thinned out and dilated in less than a week, but here i am! ive tried everything that is safe from hot baths, walking, s_x, spicy foods, and nipple stimulation. yesterday i noticed a big increase in discharge, and today i have HORRIBLE back pain and pelvic pressure. i can barely get up to go anywhere, its so painful. everywhere ive read says these are signs of labor, but, this is the most horrible waiting game ive ever played in my life..heh.. babys head is down, my cervix is soft and ripe, and he wont come out! arrgghh.. and, this is my 3rd. my hubby is almost as anxious as i am. he took today off thinking that labor is around the corner. i dont know what else to do *sigh* why do they say increase in v____al discharge is a sign of labor??

I mixed 2 ounces of castor oil and 3 eggs together and ate it. That was at 11am. So far I only went to the bathroom once and have no cramps. I have been also doing nipple stimulation. I will let you know if it works

Well I was due 3 days ago and still nothing. I bought some black and blue cohosh today but I'm not sure how much to take. Can anyone help me out? Both bottles say not to take if you are pregnant but I've read that it will help induce labor.

Castor oil worked for me. With my first delivery- 21 hours. With the the 2nd, I took castor oil (2 TBS) at 7 pm. Woke up at 5:35 am and the baby was born less than 3 hours later. I was in the hospital for 45 minutes. I took the castor oil the day before my due date though so this may have been why it came on time anyway.

I took castor oil yesterday and had contractions for about 5 hours and then they fizzled out. I went to the doctor today and I am only dilated 2cm so it didnt work for me!

I was due on the 1st but I still haven't had mine yet that makes me 41 weeks I read about the pineapple and am currently trying it so far I' ve eaten 3/4 of the pineapple and as much as I like the taste my whole mouth is burning from the acids in the pineapple I am eager to have her already. At my last doctor's appt they said I was not really dialated but 60% effaced. This is my second child. My 1st one was 1 day early so this was the last thing that I had expected. When I had my son I wasn't dialated at all until after my water broke so I have come to the conclusion that just because you aren't dialated yet doesn't always mean that you won't have your baby on time. Some of these postings scare me, people talking about trying to induce at 36 weeks. I didn't start trying to get things going until 38+5 weeks so far I have tried warm baths, some nipple stimulation, s_x, and walking. I have been having cramps for about 2 weeks but no progress. I get regular contractions but as soon as I think that I should head to the hospital, they stop. Hopefully this pineapple thing will work. I know that my due date cannot be off because when I was diagnosed they said I was 3wks if anything I would be farther along than they said. I hadn't even missed my period when I was diagnosed. I'm debating the castor oil, but the suggestions keep changing from site to site. I have a doctors appt tommorow and they are going to perform a non stress test and than maybe talk about Inducing. For those of us still waiting I wish you luck. If you are less than 38 weeks please don't try anything crazy. Be patient And most of all to everyone hope that you don't have back labor it is the worst and seems to last entirely too long.

I went 42 weeks with my first child and the doctor suggested the s_x, but said it will only work if you have an orgasm. His other suggestions worked better. He told me to drink extra water, put my feet up and relax. It sounds silly, but all of the stressing about going into labor will actually make it take longer. After relaxing for an hour or so, take a walk, not strenuous, just slow quiet walk for a mile or so if you can handle it. Basically, the idea was for everything to be very soothing and calming. A warm bath or shower can help as well as long as your water hasn't broke. It is the only thing that worked. I tried this and the next morning I was in labor and the Dr told me that it was one of the easiest labors he'd seen for a first pregnancy. 4 hours of labor, 2 pushes and my son was born with no complications. So, I guess my suggestion is to relax and let your body do it's job rather than pushing and putting extra stress on yourself. Besides, who couldn't use a little extra R&R right before a new baby comes?!?
