Naturally Inducing Labour

I am pregnant with my third child and due in less than 2 weeks. My last baby is only 10 1/2 months old and I have heard that having kids very close means you are more likely to have it early but nothing as yet. I am trying evening primrose oil both orally and v____ally, and s_x. The oil mean there is no need for KY lubricant, hahaha! With my other 2 kids I found the baby came when it was most inconvienient. With my first my contractions became stronger after 3 1/2 days of latent labour while we were at the vet getting our cat put to sleep and I delivered the next morning. I was worn out from crying over the cat and I think the stress put me into real labour. With my second baby I was due to be induced when I was 9 days overdue right after a uni exam. The doctor was sure I would not go on my own and I would be better off if I waited untill after my exam rather that the week before. Everyone else said I would not make it to my exam and they were right. I delivered the day before and was still in hospital. I would not advise castor oil as it did not work for me, but my bum was terribly blistered and sore and I felt so weak from having the runs that I don;t think I could have handled labour if it had worked. I suggest making exciting plans. Murphys law says if you make plans then you will be sure to deliver when you don;t want to. hahaha! Good luck with your pregnancies and labours, girls!

Prego with six - May 4

Hey there ladies..First of all I would not do anything unless you are at least 38 weeks. You want a healthy baby..But mineral oil does work!BUT...It brings on HARD contraction! I drank it for three days in a row.And only took a table spoon full each day! And I was only in labor for two hours! But it was the worst labor out of all my five children I had!I'm now due with number six and I would never take it again! But it does work so make sure you are due or overdue. It never made me go to the bathroom at all...I just walked alot and after day three of mineral oil..It was on!!!!!Good luck!!! I know it is hard to waite it out....But only do this if your ready...cervix must be getting ready or it want work... I did it after I started spotting.....

Ladies, did you know that even though the medical community understands the conditions that are present for labor to begin( ripe cervix, dilation, etc.) they do not fully understand what brings labor on. Is it hormones from the mothers body or hormones sent from the baby's? Current research says the baby may be in control. This being said, it may not be wise to jumpstart labor. I am 39 weeks now and due on Sunday, Mother's Day. I want this baby to come more than anything right now cuz I'm not comfortable and I wish a natural birth not one that's induced. The more aggresive approaches seem risky like the castor oil but I'm taking a long walk to the store to buy a fresh pinapple. Exercise and fresh fruit seem harmless :)

I'm 39 weeks today and although I am not tired of being pregnant would really like not to go over and be induced. I have found all this forum very interesting for ideas, most of which I have heard but great to get others opinions on the topic. I agree that baby will come when ready and anything you do may only trigger an all ready ripe cervix. I was going to try castor oil but after what I've read here ...probably not!

My doctor told me that Castor oil will not harm you or your baby, the worst it will do is give you the runs through out labor. He doesn't recommend it because the baby should come when it's ready. I am 39+ weeks with #2

i tried the castor oil . It did not work i drank 3 gla__ses of it and it gave me the runs .. so now. i am going to try the pineapple .and raseberry tea.. good luck ladies on getting ur baby out sooner..

you should think about taking the herb Black or blue cohosh. This starts contractions and works once absorbed into your system. But I advise that you do your own research first. Please do your own research.

Well, I am 39 weeks and I have also tried everything...jumping, jogging, walking, and s_x. Nothing has worked for me. I am 3 and a half centimeters dialated and have been for 4 weeks. I have just come to the conclusion that babies will come when they are ready and I know you hate hearing these words as much as I hate saying them! But I will also still try everything that I know to get him out of me now!!!

I tried taking Castor oil, I drank 15ml the first night done nothing, tried 100ml the next day just ended up on the toilet for a day and a half, ( Baby wipes work wonders for all who try but don't succeed. they say it works for some,Some web sites claim there are several risks involved in taking castor oil, others say it is safe. I found that bubs didn't like me having the runs and she moved more than ever causing more discomfort. I would still like to induce my pregnancy and would love to hear some ideas that don't taste as bad as Castor oil...lol.lol

HaPpY mOtHeRs DaY to all who are expecting and have children. I have tried s_x ,walking and spicy foods. I am due tommorow. Has anyone tried squats. Its opens your hips i don't know if that helps the cerix but it push's the baby down further even if you have already dropped fully.I did some last ngiht and woke up wiht cramps at 3 am but still no baby. I personally would not try castor oil. Every doctor has a different opinion but it has been proven to cause more pain . And do you really want more pain than pushing an 8 pnd baby through you?I read inducions only work when baby is ready. So if things don't work then i'd relax. Good Luck to everyone.

I am due in a few days, and I too have tried the whole castor oil thing...and I would never in a million years try it again!!! All it did was give me the runs and the sorest bottom that I have ever had! Definetely not recommended!

alison - May 9

i was due yesterday,so am currently trying the whole rasberry tea idea and pineapple juice theory. Not sure if it works but will give it a try!

Simone Morey - May 9

I am still going, I now have 8 days untill I am due. I have no signs that this child will EVER come out and nothing I have tried has helped. I am giving up! I will be pregnant forever! Throughout my 3 pregnancies I have tried almost everything and I am tired of spending money on products and wasting my energy. Castor oil, evening primrose oil, s_x, walking, trampolining, acupuncture, spicey food, wine, hot baths, prayer, and all for nothing. Litlle Harry is very happy where he is so FINE, he can stay!

Tracie - May 9

Reflexology- pressure points in your feet. I did it with my 1st baby, & so did 4 other people I know!! Really works...

alison - May 10

Still drinking tea,and still waiting on my baby to make his grand entrance into the work.Guess he is happy right where he is.Well until the 18th when i will be induced.Something i am not looking forward to,infact the whole idea of giving birth scares me all of a sudden!!The mid-wife actually suggested s_x as a means of natural inducment, can this be true :)
