Premature Labor Question

So I am about 30 weeks along. A few days ago I had a big pain in my lower back. I ignored it and just took some tylonol and layed down, well a few minutes later it was worse! I started getting worried because I have so much pressure down in my pelvis that in the back of my head I thought she had dropped, or at least was way down in my pelvis. So I called the doctor and they wanted me to stay at the house and lay down try to relax, etc. etc. I did take more medicine and it didnt help much. SO I went into the hospital and they hooked me all up. I WAS having contractions, but just not enough to be admitted and watched for longer than a few hours. They ended up giving me a shot to stop the contractions. I think it was something like "Triboline" or something close to that. I am having more back pressure, and I know the baby is laying on my nerves and my lower back. Has anyone ever had this drug to stop your contractions? How long does it usually last? I get weird sensations that I wont be lasting all 40 weeks. I am scared, but I think my thoughts and my pain is trying to tell me something. I see my doctor in a week. Should I tell him my thoughts on not going all the way up to 40 weeks? I am scared he will think I am crazy and tell me not to worry about it. Is it bad to have contractions this early and need to have them stopped?? I am lost. As most could tell this is my first pregnancy. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

well, obviously it's not a good thing to have to have your contractions stopped because it's too early.. but I'd say the same thing, try and relax. For one, in another couple weeks your baby will more than likely be just fine even if it is born early..but a lot of things are mental.. excessive stress is linked to premature labor so do what you have to to stay calm.

I had strong contractions stopped at 34 weeks with (I think it's called) Tributalene and something else which I can't remember. I did continue to contract lightly for awhile after but nothing like how the contractions had been before. Now I'm at 39 weeks and am doing fine so I guess you can just never tell. If you're still feeling concerned I would go back and see your doctor now to try and put your mind at ease as a week is a long time to wait. Good luck.

If you have a good OB/GYN he should be understanding and you should be able to talk about it- I mean you were hospitalized for this, so I can't imagine he'd think your concerns were crazy! Good luck!!!

I am 35 weeks and have been on bedrest at home and in the hospital in the last two weeks. The shot is terbutaline. I was given 2 of those and sent home with some but it didnt help then they gave me nifedipine. I hate the way they make u feel. On Saturday I had bad pressure like the baby was coming and some spotting so I went to hospital and they checked me I was a 2 50% effaced and the babies head at 0 station. She said it was really low. Later I was a 3. So I stayed for a day and now they say that theyre not gonna stop it and im having irregular contractions and itll probably make me dilate. She gives me 2 weeks at the most. But I would tell your doctor how you feel. Dont stress yourself out like I did. You dont want your baby going to nicu like they said to me.Good Luck
