Im 38.5wks and the rasp tea has helped calm me down anyway. It tastes good and if it helps labour then where is the harm? I have tried (all in one day) castor oil, enemas, vindaloo curry, cervix stretch, EP capsules orally and on the cervix and all that resulted was three hours of contractions, a runny bum and no baby. BUT three days later I have completley thinned, and the Dr said I have other symptoms of being very close: slightly raised blood pressure, reflux, less fluid, fetal heart rate down slightly and a big drop in baby moving. I was induced with my 1st and want to avoid it this time...hers hoping!

Here I am again at 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I am still only two cm but now 80% effaced and they are inducing on Friday. I know that no one pictures the pregnancy ending in induction but think of it this way. I have tried everything that there is to try and nothing has helped. Why, because my body was not only not ready but when you make yourself so anxious about the birth, your body's natural reaction is for it not to occur. So first of all, I would recommend calming down. Second, everyone says that you don't want to be induced. The correct term is medically induced because everything we have been talking about is a form of inducing our labors. There is no difference except that your not in the hospital. I understand not wanting it that way but sometimes, Mother Nature does not agree with us. Also, you always have the option of refusing the induction, DOCTORS CANNOT DO IT ON THEIR OWN! If they did it would be lawsuit city. But you also have to weigh the risks, just as you do with trying it yourself. There is all kinds of research against both medical and do it yourself inductions. You have to figure out what your willing to risk. But whatever you decide, just remember this, the end result, whether you induce naturally, medically, or end up having to have a C section, the results are the same. You will have your beautiful baby in your arms soon. And isn't that the point. Its not about how much we hate being overdue or how much we fear medical interventions. Its all about the life growing inside of us.

With my first daughter i was induced it is way wors than natural labor my 2nd daughter and both of mine were preemies my body can't go the full 40 weeks. 36 and 34 this time i am 35 and waiting. on bed rest. but my friend drank 3ml of castrol oil in OJ and she was in labor in 15 min had the baby 96 min later to a healty boy so it depends on you what eill work but between all my friends s_x, castrol oil and the tea work.

I'm 41 wks and have been at 2cm for 3wks. I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea since I was 38 wks. Nothing has changed. I've tried lots of walking, s_x and even castor oil and only gotten tired and dehydrated. I do believe that I am so worried about having to be induced in the hospital or just wanting this to be over that it causes anxiety/tension contributing to going over my due date. I think relaxing your mind and body along with these other ideas would work, but they should go hand in hand.

I am also 38 weeks and i just want to have my baby on time. so i started drinking the tea today so i am not sure if its going to work but for anyone who has tried it and was successful how much of it a day was you drinking?

It is fine to do what you can to help prepare your body for labour and delivery - Raspberry Tea and Primrose oil are great examples. BUT remember that labour is started when the BABY not the mother releases a chemical to start things off. Full term pregnancy is considered 37-42 weeks. Don't let your doctor tell you any different. You make the decision to be induced.... NOT the medical profession. Mother nature has done a pretty good job til now, why interrupt her.

question? - December 26

might be a stupid question but is rasberry tea the same as rasberry leaf tea? I just bought some but it just says rasberry tea???

kashi - December 30

Raspberry Leaf: can be used abundantly throughout pregnancy, especially the last trimester. It contains the active alkaloid fragrine, which has a special influence onthe pelvic region and the uterus. It strengthens and tones the reproductive organs helping prevent morning sickness, miscarriage, and hemorrhage. It can help reduce pain during labor and after birth and prepare the uterus to work more effectively. Rich in vitamin C, E, and iron.

cherri - January 14

You want to eat fresh parsely, rasberry just keeps your uterus healthy. you want to get contractions going eat fresh parsely it worked for me.

Here I am again only this time, I am no longer pregnant. Yeah!!!!!! I'm also here to tell you this. I tried every old wives tale in the book, especially as the date for my scheduled induction approached and none of them worked. I found myself checking into the hospital at 8 am on the morning of the 10th. around 8:30 they started the pitocin. I was 3 cm dialated and only 50 % effaced. At around 11:30 am after not progressing at all, they broke my water and upped the pitocin. I progressed to 4 cm within minutes but then for the next 4 and a half hours I was in the most intense pain I had ever experienced. I tried every natural method of pain control you could think of. They didn't work. Being deathly afraid of an epidural, I tried less harsh drugs for pain control combined with natural methods. They still did not work. Finally at 4:30 p.m., I began begging for an epidural. The whole process took about 6 or 7 minutes and I didn't feel a thing thanks to the mind b__wing contrations I was having. After the epidural kicked in, all I did was sleep. Yes, sleep, it was wonderful. The nurse awoke me two hours later to check me, I was at 7 cm, 100% effaced. An hour and a half later at 8 p.m. she awoke me again and I was 10 cm. After a half an hour of pushing and a little bit of help from a vacc_m extractor (its not as scary as it sounds), my beautiful daughter came into the world at 8:30 p.m. Exactly twelve hours after the began the pitocin. The moral of the story is, our little ones won't come till their ready. I tried all the natural methods but found I only made myself miserable in the process. I know that we all get tired of being pregnant but every day that you remain pregnant your baby grows a little stronger and is completely protected. Women were given the incredible gift (though sometimes we dont feel so lucky) to bring children into this world, a rite no one can take away from us. Why would you sell your shining moment short. This is the only time in our lives where being fat is s_xy and/or appealing to those around us. Revel in it and enjoy it. I'm not saying not to grasp at every oppurtunity to make pregnancy and labor easier and more healthy but be careful at what you do. During my final ultrasound at 37 and a half weeks, they told me my daughter weighed about 8 lbs. 7 0z. and I thought to myself, now its safe to try and induce labor. 3 and a half weeks later when she was born weighing only 6 lbs 10 oz, I thanked my lucky stars that my attempts to rush her along had not worked. Just remember to be safe.

I was just sent some rasberry leaf tea by my aunt who is a qualified midwife. I am 36 weeks now and she told me that you should drink the tea for the last 3-4 weeks of pregnancy as it helps to soften your cervix in preparation for labour. She told me to stick a handful of the tea leaves in a teapot with boiling water, then when cool, stick it in the fridge (with the leaves still in it) and drink 2-3-4 cups a day (whenever you think of it). Leaving it in the fridge gives you a nice strong brew too...Also I was induced with my first son and there was nothing to it...4 hrs 20 min after having the gel rubbed on my cervix I had my baby in my arms...Good Luck

evening primrose oil capsules - January 28

Jami - January 28

My first baby was 9lbs 2 oz and was a girl. She was 5 days late and was induced. Now 8 years later, I'm having a son and the doctor already thinks that he's going to be big. I'm right at 37 weeks and very worried that I'll have to have a c-section if I go much longer. My old stretch marks are starting to stretch more. I started drinking rasberry leaf tea and I'm at 1 cm but my doctor says he won't induce until I'm at least 38 weeks. Any suggestions beyond the standard s_x, castor oil, tea, walking?

maggie - February 14

i dunno if raspberry tea work to be honest :/ i doubt s_x works either.. and walking.. it just hurts and nothing happening :(
