Hi, well as far as I remember I got sharp pains when my cervix was dialating, I also got a show at that time, your probably going into labour soon. Be careful because sometimes women don't even know they're in labour, especially if it's you first. I'm having my third baby and I still question the aches and pains that I'm having. I think that if you continually get those pains and notice an ache in your back at all, you should get checked out, it could be any time now. Good luck!

If the pains are getting more regular you are proberbly going into labor. Do you have any other symptons?
Hope it goes well for you

I've been having sharp pains in my lower abdomen and pubic area for a few weeks now. It seems to come only when the baby has dropped and become engaged. (She likes to toy with me by dropping and then sliding back up in the night). I think it's probably just the pressure of her head and shoulders pushing on the very tender ligaments of the lower part of my uterus. The doctor sort of confirmed it when I checked with him. I've had two or three serious episodes of shocking pains way down low in my pubic region but all I've been having are long and irregular bouts of false labour. I heard if you are having the sharp pains with back pain you should feel the top of your uterus just under your ribs. If the contractions are real, it should be hard as well as the rest of your uterus. If they are Braxton Hicks, your uterus will be hard, but the fundus will still be soft.
