Alexa, I heard that HCG levels rise and reach a peak at like 10 weeks but then they start to drop after that. Sounds like that is what is going on with you. Don't lose faith!

I am currently about 7 weeks pregnant. I've been getting my HCG levels checked for about the last 3 weeks. My second ultrasound was last Friday, 7/15. Like the first ultrasound I had, the doctor saw the sac but no fetal pole and I believe she said she didn't see a yolk sac either. I took another HCG level test on 7/15 after the u/s and it was 25,427. Should I hold out hope that this is still a viable pregnancy? I have another u/s scheduled on 7/26 and the dr. said by then she SHOULD see something other than just the sac. I've been worrying since the first u/s on 7/8. How many weeks were you when you could finally see your baby instead of just an empty sac?

It's nice to know that so many other women are going through the same thing that I'm going through. This past weekend, my husband and I went into the ER because I had some pinkish (a little red) bleeding everytime I went to the bathroom. We found out that we had a "missed abortion" because they saw a sac without a fetus or heartbeat. My doctor asked if I wanted to naturally pa__s it or if I wanted a D&C. I haven't bled since we came home from the ER but I think my cramps have increased. I know we all feel the same... a little mixed inside but I think that we all agree that although we don't want to "let go", we want to start pa__sing this as soon as possible. All I know is that we have to stay strong and even though I see these WONDERFUL miracles of women having 2nd/3rd u/s and finding a fetus, I don't have that instinct that I am so lucky. I'm going to go through the natural pa__sing and if there is going to be a miracle, I'll wait patiently for it. Good luck to all of you that are in the same situation.

Judy - I just went through the same thing. FYI, my bleeding got a little worse (bright red, but still only when I wiped) and in about a week it got heavier. I think I went through the worst of it this weekend, which was like a heavy period and some cramping (I normally don't cramp at all). Truthfully, it was easier than I expected and I hope the same goes for you. I didn't want to have a D&C and I'm glad for my decision - let's hope the worst is over. But man, I'll tell you - pads suck!

Judy I also went through a similar experience except I had no bleeding only stomach pain prior to miscarrying. I was told the pregnancy was not viable and I would likely miscarry. At first I opted for natural miscarriage and then changed my mind to the D&C. This was because I'd heard about how painful it can be. I'd missed the surgery day for that week so had to wait a week. In the meantime I miscarried on my own anyway. That was Sat. I don't want to alarm you but my experience was really bad. I think it's important to share this so you can maybe make a decision that will make things easier on you. I had terrible stomach and back pains and really v heavy bleeding with huge clots. I pa__sed out twice; once giving my husband a real fright since I was on my feet at the time and fell into the wall. I hope that I never experience another miscarriage but if I ever was in this kind of situation again I'd choose the D&C for sure. That way it's all over and done with quickly and is much less painful. Good luck to you in this pregnancy and in any other.

i was 10 weeks when i was told the same, i had no symptoms even at 10 weeks i just went in for my 1st scan. its very hard to think you didnt know but there is no way you could. its just one of those things thats so hart breaking and no understands. you should read as much as you can about it thats what i did and it makes thing a little more clear

i am a little bit under 11 weeks and the nurses that did the ultra sound could not see my sac either

I just found out today that my ultrasound shows no baby and I should be almost 2 1/2 months already. I guess it's just a sack. I go in next Tuesday for a d&c.

I am also waiting! I am in my seventh week and had an ultrasound. I was told there is a growing sac but no fetal pole. My hcg levels are still rising.I go back in two weeks for another ultrasound. I am so scared! I already have a three year old son and we really want this one too. Good luck and God bless you all!

I was 6 weeks when I found out I was pregnant and had an ultrasound and it was nothing but sac no fetus.I had no misscarriage signs at all. So Ive been there.This was in 03.Now I am pregnant again 7 weeks .I go to have my first ultrasound at 9 wks wish me luck....i feel sick all the time so maybe this time will be different.

I just had my 6 week 4 day u/s and they saw everything but could not find a heartbeat. The Dr. said my chances of miscarriage were 2 out of 3. I am so sad now I can't stop crying. My husband and I TTc for 3.5 years before going through IVF. I go back in 1 week for another sonogram to see if there may be a heartbeat but I am already expecting the worst. Has anyone not seen a heart beat at 6 1/2 weeks but saw it a later on?

I understand everyone completely. I had an ER visit 7/18/05 and they did an u/s to make sure everything is ok with baby. According to 1st day of cycle 5/14/05, I should be 9 week pregnant. They not only found 1 sac but 2, so that means fraternal twins. They are concerned because they are measuring at 5 weeks gestation. The Dr. says we are either off on dates or they are blighted ovum. Dr. did blood test and in 48 hours it went from 24,000 to 30,000. They said that all is looking good for me so far. Dr. is going to do another u/s on Aug 1. I should be close to 7 weeks. They see a sac but no fetal pole and by 7 weeks they said they should see fetal pole as well as heartbeat. I am so scared and it will be the longest week of my life. Every little normal cramp you have at pregnancy has me running to the bathroom to see if I am bleeding. I too like everyone else am not experiencing any miscarriage symptoms. My concern is I don't know how we can be off on dates as I took a positive test on June 10th. I cycle every 26 days and in order for dates to be off I would have had to ovulate on day 23 or so and took a positive like 4 or 5 days later, which I suppose If I am preg with twins I will pa__s a positive sooner than normal. Anyone heard of ovulating this late?

Hiya , reading a few of these storys have helped me to relax a little bit ! i went 4 my u/s scan 2day and it came with with an empty sack the docs keep sayin im nearly 8weeks but there is no way i am cos my lst period was may 30th and i was with my fella round june 11th so that in my eyes makes me bout 6weeks ! anyways i had 2 give them blood 2day and go bck on monday in 2days to give another ! ive had no pains or spottin / bleeding ! all i can do is pray at this time and c wot happends ! nats x x x

jennifer i got a +hpt june 12th but my af was due on 11th i'm 10wks tomorrow and we seen baby and heart beat at 8wks 5d

This is my 5th pregnancy. I only have 1 child that is 4. I had my 1st m/c 10 yrs ago. Lst yr I had a child full term that had trisomy 18 and only lived for 5 days. I became pregnant again shortly after when an u/s @ 17 wks determined no heart beat. I had to have a D & E. Taking advise of Dr. I waited to get pregnant again. I recently found out I was pregnant and went to Dr. to make sure that everything was o.k. I got news that there was a sac but no embryo. I was told I am 7.2 wks lmp was 5/29/05 but sac measuring only 5.5 wks. I had my hcg levels tstd they only wnt up slightly in 2 days. I am to go back for another u/s on 7/27/05 & more blood wrk. I do not have a lot of hope. I started spotting last nite w/ lower back pain. I am just waiting for something to happen. Still feeling sick though, I was pretty much giving up any chance that the Dr. may be wrong until I read this site. Thans to all who shared their stories.
