Cramping And Dull Lower Back Pain Help Please

I am 9 wks pg and for the last week or so I have been having mild cramping, sometimes it hurts a little, but most of the time it's pretty mild. Also, I keep getting this dull pain in my lower back. Is this normal? My mother told me it was and that it was from my uterus stretching and everything, but I'm just not sure. Is anyone else feeling like this. I'm really scared.
