PREGNANCY AFTER MYOMECTOMEY PART 2

sjt23...I went through the same thing - I was 4 months preg and lost my son ...the dr.'s still do not know why and incompetent cervix was also thought to be the culprit. But as my reproductive endocrinologist stated had it been an incompetent cervix I would have never felt any pain at all. I had horrible pain for almost a week and then went into labor. I ended up having 12 fibroids removed after that. I am now 31 weeks pregnant and having my csection at 37 weeks. I was monitored for incompetent cervix but every ultrasound I have had shows my cervix is nice and long (as the u/s tech put it). Congrats on being pregnant!! The most important thing I can tell you is pray over your child daily and stay hydrated...hydration is soooo very important. I wish you the best. And congrats to the ladies that have already had kids that had their myo's close to when I had mine. I have not posted in well over a year but I read the posts and I am so happy for all of you and look forward to being in your shoes in about 7 weeks.

angelkitty, Thanks so much. You girls are so helpful. I really think I am going to opt for the serial ultrasound. We have all had such amazingly similar situations. What gets me is that the statistics on fibroids playing a role in second trimester loss are all messed up. Especially if they are diagnosing everyone with IC. My doctors told me that they had never seen fibroids play a role in loosing a child. Well, have they or did they just misdiagnose it? Anyway it does my heart good to hear all of these success stories. I will keep you in my prayers angelkitty. I know you are going to be just fine. From what weeks did they do the ultra sounds? ThX SJ

My u/s started almost immediately and did not stop until I was 27 weeks. I had an u/s every three or 4 weeks. My reproductive endocrinologist truly believes it was the fibroids that caused my loss. The pain I was in was why he thinks that - with an IC he said I would have not known there was a problem.

Hello All! Same story here... my dr told me that he had never seen fibroids cause a preterm loss at 21 weeks (which is when I lost my Antoine) so he said that it could have been an IC. I had the myo 3 months after my loss and got pregnant 6 months later. Throughout that pregnancy the dr had me visit a prenatal specialist to monitor me for IC and I was told that a cerclage would be placed if necessary. The visits were every 4 weeks at first then as I got a little further along I had a scare with some mild contractions so the visits got closer to every 2 weeks but nothing came of it and now I have a very healthy 10 week old son! P.S. CONGRATS to the new pregnant moms here! I'm so happy for you! :-) KB

Hi girls, KB did you get your period yet. I had Misha on August 27 and still haven gotten my period. Did pregnancy test and I am not pregnant. Just wondering if that is normal?

KB - November 19

Katarina1, No I have not gotten it yet however I'm b___stfeeding so my dr told me that it may not return for months or it may not return til I finish b___stfeeding. He said that every woman is different so he can't tell me when it will return. We are not currently ttc'ing (hands really full with my 12 week old and just started back work this week (BLAH))! I'm already trying to figure out a way to reduce my hours because I'm missing my baby too much. After everything that I went through to have this child I just can't accept only seeing him for 2 to 3 hours a day awake. All the other time I'm either at work or he's asleep. I've cried all week. :-( KM Williams how are you doing? How's your baby daughter?! How is everyone else? I hope that all is well! Take care. KB

KB Thank you for answering me.

damajuana - November 20

Hi girls, FYI I got my perdiod when my baby was ten months. But on month six I start taking the pill (a special one for b___st feeding). Hope this helps.

KB - November 20

damajuana, Question for you... my dr. prescribed me the low dose bc pills as well however I have not started taking them yet. Have you noticed any side effects? I'm hesitant to take them because I haven't taken any form of bc pills since 2005. That is when I found out that I not only had fibroid tumors but also a very large colon tumor that had to be removed. I didn't correlate the tumors with the bc pills but I wanted to eliminate any and everything that was foreign to my body so I just stopped taking them. I found out afterwards that it was difficult for me to get pregnant anyway so I just never resumed the pills. Also, since giving birth to my little boy 12 weeks ago I have lost such a significant amount of weight (also b___stfeeding) and I feel GREAT physically (other than the lack of sleep) so I'm also concerned about any possible weight gain that may result from returning to the pill. I'm still debating whether or not I want to start the pills. I'm leaning towards not but I'm just not sure yet. katarinak1, I also forgot to mention that my dr told me that my period may resume once I start the pills but he said that it may or may not... just depends on how my body reacts while still b___stfeeding. Thanks, KB

damajuana - November 20

Hi kb, Congratulations for your little angel!. The same happened to me, my doctor prescribed me the low dose pills on month five and I started taking them on month six due to the fact that I was hesitant to take them because I thought that they were correlated to fibroids growth. But next month when returned to the doctor, I asked him that question and he told me that I MUST start to take them immediately and that if I get pregnant again in that momento it was going to be a high risk pregnancy because my uterus walls were very thin in some places due to the myomectomy and posterior c section. So start taking them again, or try other anticonceptive method. I b___stfeed Federica until her first year, (since month ten I only had milk to feed her in the morning, the evening and at night and with less quality more watery). I started taking the pill on month six and on month ten I started noticing that I had less milk , so I think there is no short term correlation between the amount of milk and the pill. Hope this helps.

Hello everyone it has been such a long time since I have posted. I miss you guys. How are the little ones doing? How are the pregnancies going so far? Fof those who are pregnant enjoy it and do what you want to do now because when that baby comes your life completely changes for the better of course but it changes. Katar and KB, just an fyi, I've gotten my period. I think this is the second month of me having it and I b___stfeed also. At first my little Amaya wouldn't take to b___stfeeding now that is all she wants. I can't leave her to long because she refuses to take the bottle now. KB and Kat how are your children? I know you are enjoying them so much. My heart breaks when I hear of some of you having to return to work. I am a real estate agent (not praticing right now) since my husband makes a good enough living I am at home with the baby. It can get tough not interacting with people but it is so rewarding. All I can say is treasure the time you do have and take lots of pictures. May God bless and keep all of you. PS. I am deabting on when I should have another child as well. I would like one sooner than later because I still have fibroids and they have grown during my pregnancy. However, I can't imagine running after a 1+ year old and being pregnant. That seems like it would be a horrible experience. However, God has a plan so whatever it is I will follow.

KM Williams- Tahnk you for responding to my qusetion about the period. I still haven't gotten it and I worry little bit what is going on. I b___st feed for two months, but not anymore and still no period. I even ended up taking pregnancy test, but nothing. Dr.told me to wait 1 more months and if still nothing to call him and they will inject some hormones. I was gettin proestrogene shoots during the pregnancy, so I am blaming it on that. Well hopefuly it is not a menopause, I am only 33. Misha is doing OK, but she has a bad acid reflux, so we have a hard time to find a right formula for her. She outgrowed a colic already, GOD thank you for that, because it was a torture for us to see her in such a pain. I am planning on trying for little brother or sister for Misha sometimes around February, March (Dr. told me to wait app.6months). I don't want to wait too long, because the fibroids might come back. They didn't feel, or see any during C-section, but dont want to take a chance, I really want Misha to have at least one sybiling. I don't want her to grow up alone. Is there anyone who had second one after myo? How long did you waited after first one ? Everything went OK ?

KB - November 23

Good Morning Everyone! Haven't heard from those ttc'ing lately. Hope that all is well with you guys and that those of us who have had myo's and gone on to successfully carry to term are an inspiration to you guys who are ttc'ing and that our stories help to encourage you. KM Williams, it's so good to hear from you! We have so much in common! I have my real estate license as well but it's inactive right now. My plan was to work part time as an agent while working at my full time job and become a full time agent by the time I became a mommy. I wanted to be able to quit my regular job and have a flexible work schedule but the bottom of the market fell out by the time that I got my license. I'm currently looking for a part-time job so that I can quit my full time job and spend more time at home with Dean. It's crazy... your life and priorities really do change once baby comes. I had no clue how strong the desire would be for me to be at home more to raise him. I thought that I would have him and be ready to go back to work full time and continue to advance my career. I'm sure that it's different for each mom but for me I'm willing to put my career on the back burner for a couple of years if it means that I'm able to be at home with my son more. I do enjoy the adult interaction (that's why getting a part-time job won't be too bad for me) but I would still much rather be at home with him taking our daily walks around the neighborhood and playing on the floor all day. Even on days when he's cranky and fussy for no reason I would still rather be home with him than at work. I worry like crazy when I'm not with him. He still isn't rolling over yet but I'm really afraid that I'm going to miss those milestone moments so I try to work with him during the times I am at home so that I can see him roll over for the first time and not miss it. It's crazy but exciting to see us talking about wanting to ttc again when we were on pins and needles this time last year! I wasn't even pregnant yet this time last year! It's such a blessing to be at this point. I never thought that I'd be here. My DH says that he doesn't want any more kids because he has a 12 year old from a prior relationship and now we have a 12 week old!!! :-) But I try explaining to him that by the time our 12 week old gets to age 5 his oldest son will be on his way to college so our baby needs someone to grow up with. He will grow up like an only child if we don't have another one closer in age. So, I'm still trying to talk him into having another one. I would actually like to try again sometime next year (maybe late next year) because of the fear of fibroids returning(I still have one left). But, I just don't know what next year will bring so we'll just have to wait to see! Happy Holidays everyone! KB

Hey Ladies, I am 8 weeks along and so far so good. The drs. all say it is my choice whether I get the cerclage or not??? It is so up in the air they say. Of course my family says to just get the darn thing, but I still just don't know. I am worried about the side effects. Honestly I probably will just give in and do it. Even thought I feel like I probably dont need it. My husband just keeps saying that he cant stand another loss like the one we already had. So that is my update. We are staying home for the holidays and taking it easy this year. I hope everyone has a great yummy thanksgiving. SJ

SJT23 I am going to keep you in my prayers. I know what it is like trying to make a decision that can alter everything.... for instance the myo. I didn't know what to do I was scared I was going to wake up and they tell me everything went wrong. It's different because u are dealing with a precious 8 weeks old baby. Pray... ask God for the advice and he will lead u in the right direction. KB and Kat how are you two? I missed you guys. I have been on money saving sites trying to find the beast deals for diapers/coupons,etc. Since I am not working every little bit helps. I am glad to know all is well with you and your family. Kat my daughter had a slight case of acid reflux after about 3 weeks I think it was whenever I would lay her flat on her back she would have it. the smell is horrible. However I make sure she is elevated or sleeps on her tummy and that pretty much took care of that. KB my daughter is not turning yet either I put her on her side but she is not intersted. Have to bath her now will write tomm. God Bless.
