Hey everyone, I just stumbled upon here and though this may not have much to do with the topic at hand, I'm desperately looking for someone who can give me any kind of helpful information. I was 3 weeks pregnant and started bleeding alot just this past thursday and friday. The bleeding has slowed today but I'm extremely worried. I'm only 17 but me and the dad have every intention of keeping our baby. I went to the doctor to find out anything (because I'm so very afraid that the bleeding symbolized a miscarriage) so she gave me a urine test and told me I wasn't pregnant and that I probably just had a miscarriage but beyond that gave me no details or anything (so obviously this visit wasn't very comfoting at all). Anyways, I'm not ready to accept that I've lost my baby already - and I'm looking for any shred of hope for a reason for the bleeding other then a mc. The bleeding isn't like a normal menstral cycle - its like red water, there's a lot, and it was consistent. I asked the doctor that gave me the urine test for a blood test and she said that it wouldn't do me any good - that I wasn't pregnant (alothough I had already been told from another doctor prior to this visit that I was) Please, if any of you know anything about this or about other things that it could be then a mc I'd greatly apprechiate the info. Also, could it seem to a urine test that I'm not pregnant bc my hormone levels are down due to the bleeding? or is that not a possibility? Thank you so much

Lynn, If I were you I would go to another doctor. For peace of mind your doctor should have obliged you and given you a blood test. If the urine test did not come out positive it means that there is not enough of the pregnancy hormone to be detected. It is possible that you are misscarrying(I'm sorry) and that your Hcg levels(pregnancy hormone) have gone down. To detect a pregnancy, you have to have at least been one day late for your period. This would make you 4 weeks pregnant. You said you were three-Did you test positive before your period was due or are you counting 3 weeks from the time you missed your period. If that is the case then you probablly had a misscarriage because a urine test would definitily detect hormone levels at this stage. If you truly are only 3 weeks pregnant there is still hope. Not many women know they are pregnant this early and it would be hard to detect on a urine test. I myself had taken a test before I was due for my period, it came up positive, then 5 days later it came up negative and then 3 days after I missed my period it came up positive again. So there could still be hope. However, you may also have low progesterone levels. This too, will make you bleed. Most of us on this site are taking this hormone to keep from losing our pregnancys. Good luck to you and get another opinion from someone who will listen to your concerns and take the time to explain things to you. Hope this helps. God bless.

This is an answer for you Becky. It seems we are in a similar situation. I miscarried last September and got pregnant again in December. Many things have been happening with this pregnancy. First, my progesterone level dropped. Doctor put me on Prometrium 200 twice a day. Then, on my first ultrasound, I thought I was 7 weeks pregnant and the technician told me I was 5 weeks tops. I have sac and everthing, but if i did conceive whe he said, I was traveling without my husband, so i'm counting on a miracle. I'm going to my secont u/s next Wednesday to check if the embryo got bigger. I'm so nervous. The worst thing is that nobody seems to understand my feelings. Everybody I talk too tell me to relax. I cannot think about anything rather than this u/s on Wednesday. I totally understand what you going through. I'll keep you in my prayers Becky. Anybody from Connecticut? Blessings to you all.

Hey Glauia, thankyou so much for sharing your story with me. It does help when you know someone else is going through the same thing. I will definitly be keeping you in my prayers so please let me know what happens. My ultrasound is this Friday so I will let you know how it goes. I know what you mean about everyone telling you to relax. I just got a call from my doctor and she said the blood tests look very promising. My HCG level was 56,000 and all the other hormones looked good. She also said that even though I am taking progesterone, if it was another blighted ovum I would more than likely be spotting and cramping. This made me feel a little bit better but I am still sooooo scared. Lets keep each other optimistic! By the way, I live in Hornbrook California which is a small town right before the Oregon border. Take care everybody.

Hello everyone! I'm also in the same boat. my first visit to the doctor they thought I was 6 weeks and because I was spotting they took blood test. My progesterone was 6,8 so they put me on progesterone cough drops 200mg 3 times a day. I went to get un us and she could only see the sack. She said I couldn't be 6w only 4w. So I had to wait another 2 w. when I did my second us the sack had got bigger but I was only 6w and they couldn't see anything else they said it was too early. know when i'm 7 w i found out my progesterone level is way too high! is that dangerous to the fetus? or will I be able to get pregnant again? my doctor told me to take only 1 tablet a day, but I don't know if i should take any more. is there anyone that have got too high progesterone and everything has been fine? I have lost all my hope, everything have been a rollercoster and it doesn't seem to have a happy ending. Best wishes to all!

I have a question for those of you who are in the "low progesterone" boat. I had a miscarriage in Dec in which my progesterone was very low as was my hcg. The dr thinks it was a doomed pregnancy from the start. I can accept that but I have had low progesterone on every other pregancy I've had (first ended in early m/c, second resulted in healthy boy). I am waiting to see if I am pregnant after a course of clomid. He doesn't want me to call until I am a week late. I don't understand this since we already know I will have a low progesterone and will need supplementation. Waiting a week when I will know by hpt within a couple of days is killing me. Should I call anyway as soon as I find out or seek another opinion? I'm 39 so I feel a bit panicked. Any thoughts?

Tina- I would definitely call your doctor and tell him/her about your concerns. I know that many doctors start patients who have a history of low progesterone immediately on progesterone after they have ovulated. Once it it determined whether or not you are pregnant then they will either take you off and you try again or keep you going. Maybe you should get a second dr's opinion. You have every right to talk to your doctor about this issue. I have problems with low progesterone as well. Good luck to you!

Tina, my doctor put me on progesterone before I conceived this time. She had me start taking it 5 days after ovulation, if I missed my period I continued taking it(a__suming pregnancy)if I started my period then I would stop the progesterone. Why don't you ask the doctor if you can do that to ease your mind about the progesterone. It certainly wouldn't hurt and I agree with you-if you have low progesterone to start with, why risk having a low level until you can get in to see your doctor? Who is to say that the time you are waiting for your visit, even if it is only a week, wouldn't be detrimental to the pregnancy. Anyways, I hope this helps and good luck!

Help anyone! I am stressing out something fierce this morning because the last couple of days my nausea has gone away and now this morning my b___sts are no longer sore. I am only 8 weeks 3 days and it seems a bit early to be losing the symptoms. I have not had an ultrasound yet. I was not scheduled until 10 weeks. I have a call into my dr's office but they have not returned my call. I am not cramping or spotting, but since I am using progesterone I don't know if i would. I hope that I am not having a miscarriage. I am 37 years old and it takes me forever to get pregnant. It took me two 1/2 years with my first pregnancy. She is now 19 mths. old. Anyone have this happen to them?

Sandra & Becky- thanks for your words of encouragement. I have a call into a dr that was recommended to me by two different friends. I am going to get a second opinion. Sandra, I know you must be very stressed. I hope your dr calls soon. Maybe they should check your labs. Best of luck.

Hi everybody,
I am so glad i found this website! I know exactly how you all feel. I had a m/c five months ago which was the most devastating event in my life. I have been wanting to use progesterone supplements since i found out that my prog levels are low (meant to be between 30 - 35 after ovulation - mine was 7 !). My question is, will aprogesterone cream like Renewed Balance do me any good if i conceive agian soon? My doc had said he will not presecribe progesterone supplements until i have had 3 m/c's - i do not want to wait that long!!! You are all in my prayers. Keep thinking positive thoughts.

Sharon- That seems a bit long to have to wait. I had one miscarriage and then when I got pregnant again my dr started me on supplementation right away. Same with my third pregnancy. Unfortunately that one ended in miscarriage but I am planning to use progesterone when I conceive again. Every dr seems to have a different opinion. Good luck to you.

Sandra - I am also 37 and I'm due August 30th. I'm probably about 1 week further along than you. I'm on progesterone three times a day. My levels have ranged from 14.5 - 19. Last week, my symptoms completely disappeared. I was making myself sick. I happened to have a dr's appointment last friday (two days after the symptoms disappeared). They did an ultrasound and everything was fine. My symptoms came back two days later. They actually went away again today. It's so difficult not to read so much into every little twinge.
