How To Induce Labor

I'm only at 32 weeks, but my baby already weighs close to 5 lbs, what's up with that?!?!? I asked my doc if he could do a c-section at 37 weeks and he said sure, but I found out that my insurance doesn't cover planned c-sections (I have really c___ppy insurance and my husband and I both even work here at the hospital, I'm a nurse and he's a maintenance tech). What should I do!!!!!!?????

to dani tell your doc to try sc___ping your membranes it might help you go in labour oh and trust me you dont want a c-section i had one with my first and its really hard and the recovery is really long which makes it harder to enjoy everything when you have a natural birth you can do things sooner then with having a c-section. I would not worry if the baby is to big and cant fit or something they will have to give you the c-section

Dani- what reason in the world would there to be to request a c-section at 37 weeks??? Why would you risk delivering a baby that was not quite done? Due dates are just estimates and could be off by 2 full weeks. Would you feel as good about a c-section if baby could only be 35 weeks along? If you're choosing a c-section anyway what difference does it make if baby is bigger? No big deal to you and mostly benefit to them for getting more time to mature. I won't even bother telling you to do more research on the risks of c-sections or the inaacuracy of ultrasound measurements (+/-2lbs). Or tell you that you nor your Dr. know what size baby you could deliver safely. I am just astounded that both you and your Dr. are even considering intervening at 37 weeks. I'm glad that your insurance won't cover it. They shouldn't. It's riskier for you and baby.

I am 38 weeks and have tried Castor Oil on 2 seperate occasions. It has done nothing for me at all. I had an appointment today and was told that I am 50% effaced, but not dilated at all. I have only been trying to get labor started because I am in terrible pain all of the time from BH contractions and from the way that my baby's head is resting on my pelvis.

I have had 3 due dates sept 22, 27th and Oct 7, all of which has pa__sed. I am dilated to 4-5cm, and 80% thinned out, I go to have NST test on Monday and if will be induced on friday if I haven't given birth by then. This is my third child and longest pregnancy, it didn't get uncomfortable until the end of course. Yes, I am at my wits end and ready for her to come, I have had contrax for weeks now, and yes they've helped with the dilating but haven't really put me into labor, I had my membranes stripped 3 times, Oct 7th being the last time, to no avail nothing has happened yet. I was really anxious at first, but I'm so tired now I'm just letting whatever is going to happen, happen. No use in rushing it, yes we are tired and sore, and irritable and uncomfortable but until the baby is ready, it really doesn't matter what you do. What works for some may not work for others, and what works for one pregnancy may not work with another, with my son, I had my membranes stripped and had him 3 days later, this little girl is just stubborn like her dad, lol. So be patient and let nature handle the rest, besides they have to come out at some time anyways, lol. I'm very excited about being able to hold my beautiful baby girl, and yes I want her here now, but with all I've been through the past month, I've finally relaxed and calmed down enough to just wait it out. It will happen sooner or later, in the meantime find something to do to take your mind off of it, spoil yourself, I do a lot of walking be it around the neighborhood or at the mall window shopping or actual shopping, lol, play with my son or bike ride with my daughter, read a book, start writing one even, lol, anything to keep your mind from racing and wondering how to induce the labor. I tried the castor oil thing with my son as well, had the hershey squirts for days nothing more, lol I wouldn't advise it because it's not really safe. I do believe nipple stimulation helps, it did for me at least. But just be patient the baby is bound to come out and give you all the heck on the outside it gave you on the inside, lol.

I took 2 oz. Castol oil this morning at 6:30am and it's now almost 12am and all I have is a sore b___t and alot of disappointment. My contractions were 2-3 minutes but as soon as i sit still they would slow down). It worked with my daughter who is now 6 years old, I didn't take as much as I did with her this time in fear if having rapid labor again, ( last time it was 1oz. every 6 hours) this time just one dose and I give up. I'm dialated 3cms. and 70% effaced so I don't understand why it didn't work this time. I'm not going to drink anymore till after I go to my doctors on monday. Maybe Sunday morning. I'm 37 weeks and 4 days.

I have tried every form of "natural labor inducers" considered safe. None have worked, and I've been contracting for 8 days now. BUT with my son, I was told to eat fresh pinapple to "prime" myself for labor. Apparently it worke3d because I had a short, easy labor within days of the pinapple starting (I ate a pinnaple a day for 3 days)

Jodie - October 25

Are you crazy? Babies born that early have all sorts of health problems and some die
