FF - December 13

Hi everyone- I just wanted to say that I just saw a very sad story on my local news. A 21 year old mother and her 3 year old son were killed in a car crash on icy roads near my home this morning. The father, a 27 year old man, was the only person to survive the crash. He was also the only one in the car wearing his seatbelt. The child was sitting on his mother's lap in the front seat. Please, in this busy holiday season, remember to use your carseats and seatbelts at all times.

OMG thanks for the heads-up. I am so paronoid about driving accidents that I don't even ride in a taxi without a seatbelt.

So sad. A story which happens far to often.

Very sad story, FF. A good reminder for everyone to have a happy and SAFE holiday season! Not only for winter, but any time of year.

That is very sad. There was a crash here a few weeks ago where the wife and 3 year old were killed, and the husband and infant survived. They were hit by a drunk college kid going the wrong way down the freeway, so it was a big deal on the news for at least a week. They were wearing their belts, though...it's no wonder I'm scared to drive.

Jbear., I remember seeing that on the news. It was horrible. I don't think the dad was even able to go to the funeral because he was still in the hosptial. Too sad. I am so glad I am not working anymore, I used to drive 1604 every day. I hated that!!

What got to me the most was that they didn't even tell the father that his wife and child were dead until after the funeral, because of his own health. I want to cry just thinking of the whole thing. And the traffic around here has gotten worse, especially since cell phones and suv's got so popular.

That is so sad. It makes me so angry to see kids not restrained properly. Does this sort of thing have to happen to those parents to get them to THINK and take a few extra seconds and click a seatbelt? Now that poor man has to live without his family. The mother and child have not died in vein.

This is one thing that makes me glad I live in a poor town. Not many people can afford tickets so most use their seatbelts, and not many people have SUVs. That situation is so heartbreaking. I think I would try to sue if someone kept something like that from me. I don't drive because I'm so terrified of accidents. I don't even like hubby driving really. I hope this motivates people to use carseats and such. My parents have tried to get me to go somewhere without putting Zane in a carseat and I refused. Too much can happen in the time it takes to go down the block. How truly sad.

Sad, sad, sad. I always cry when I hear of a parent losing their child.
