I recently just started sterilizing bottles like this and wondered if its safe and if anyone else uses this method. I boil water in the kettle and pour the boiled water in the bottles. I put the nipples and all other parts in a bowl and just pour the boiling water on it. I let in stand for 15 min. Just wondering if anyone else uses this method of sterilizing and if its just as effective?

When I steralized bottles I would put the bottles and nipples in the pan I was boiling water in.

I do it the same way as Stephanie.I let it boil for about 15 min.

I have read in various magazines and books and in a book I received from my doctor saying it is not necessary to sterilize bottles only the first time you use the bottles and after that just use soap and water? So I haven't been sterilizing he bottles only nipples.

I only sterilize the ones when they are new, I just wash with soap and water.

I only sterlize when the bottles are new and also about once a month or after illness. Otherwise I use really hot soapy water and rinse in really hot water.

Sounds fine Ashley. I used to sterilise all the bottles and nipples every day until she was about 4 months. I am a___l that way, then we got a dishwasher that would do it! I haven't hand washed or sterilised a bottle since about 6 months.
