I am 29 weeks and SO far I have had a WONDERFUL pregnancy, but I have not taken any breathing or birthing classes and I really don't have time for one between work and school, so how important are these classes? Do you really need to take one?

You should try to at least read a book on the subject. I think its easier to deal with the birth process when you have some clue as to what to expect. I wanted a natural birth so for me it was very important to arm myself with knowledge, but I did not take any cla__ses.

I didn't take cla__ses and I had no problem whatsoever. The nurses will tell you exactly what to do, so I really don't think it's a big deal if you don't.

i thought the cla__ses were very helpful and if i had to do them again i would .... hubby is actually sad they are over cuz they are full of information. If u can find time i would if not like Miriam said ... read lots of books search the internet anything just so u r more educated on labor

It's good to read a book or watch it on tv once so you know what happens. But I am not a fan of the whole lamaze thing and I had no interest in going whatsoever. I am sure that there is a lot of helpful info...but I certainly don;t regret not going. They tell yoou everything you need to know at the hsoptial. :)

I never took any cla__ses either did not even read anything about it. I have two children so far and expecting #3. Both of my labors so far were not that bad the first one i had demerol and 27 1/2 hours of labor but I was fine. Then my second labor was completely natural and about 3 hours. I think you will come up with your own method of relaxation while you are in labor. the nurses will help you if you want to be able to try breathing methods but even if you do take the time learn them when the time comes you might find a different method of dealing with the pain.

I think they are great! It at least answers a lot of questions and is informative, and can help destress you when the time comes. I have watched my sister give birth but even that wasn't enough for me...there is a lot you don't know until you experience it or take cla__ses and hear other people's stories. I think it's great for my husband - so he can learn how to help me during that time.

The only beneficial thing I learnt at cla__ses was how to Pelvic Rock....I have done it through each contraction with all four labours.seperate your legs standing up to where it feels good.put a hand on each hip and rock around in big circles.this helps the babe move down in your pelvis and was great to do....feels natural....good luck! trust in your body...

First time mom here too. I can't take them because I work nights and can't take time off work to go to them which really sucks because I think they would be helpful. I read up on it though and try to learn all I can but in my opinion when the time comes all that info will probably go out the door and I would forget everything anyways.

If you don't go to one I'ld definately read a book about labour as you need to know what signs you need to go into hospital for. For example, my labour was not typical and if I hadn't been to the cla__ses I wouldn't have known my waters had broken. My mucuos plug went at 36 weeks and my waters broke immediately (but only a trickle - the size of a small coin) before any contractions. I then went into hospital and had to be induced. You just need to be aware that labour doesn't always follow the same order for everyone - you don't always get contractions and when your waters break there can be only a very small trickle, hardly noticeable in my case.

I didnt do anything with my first pregnancy, i did however watch alot of "a baby story" but that dosnt help you none. My first contraction came at 7 days late and i knew right away what was happening. the breathing cla__ses, i dont know, ididnt take them, you seem to forget and take everything one step at a time in the delivery room. Thats also what the nurses are there for, to tell you what to do....good luck

I didn't take cla__ses, but I read "What to Expect When You're Expecting", and it gave me a good idea of everything that was going to happen. It really helped me. I wasn't really nervous when I went into labor.
