c~ I think everyone acts like that at first if they dont know what it is. Thats how i felt about myself until I asked around and did research on it. I was like how could I possible have this, my husband and i have only been with each other and I am a very clean person. then I found out it has nothing to do with any of that. So dont worry everything will be fine and tell your sister she should do some research on it herself so she doesnt think bad things like a scary disease. Its hard to explain until you know the facts.

l.r.-We definitely announced the birth. I actually lost my only sibling a year before my daughter was born (she was due on his birthday), so everyone was really excited about the baby coming. We didn't really tell too many people that she was un the NICU until after the fact (only my parents and some friends who visited the hospital). We didn't want people to freak out, although we were nervous about her health for a little while. The NICU nurse coming to explain it to us (telling us something was wrong) was the scariest part!

Kerri, Print this page out. She has no right to treat you like that. I feel bad for you. Everything will turn out just fine:)

I also tested + for GBS and found out this week at 37 weeks. I go to a very conservative Doctor and because of the GBS he will not start doing internals until either 39 weeks or until my contractions are 10 minutes apart, whichever comes first. He says that he does not want to risk pushing the bacteria into the cervix. This is my first baby and I live an hour from this hospital so I am worried that I will have no warning or any idea how close I might be until the last minute. Anyone else have a Doctor who did not want to do an internal until so late? He initially told me he'd start at around 36 weeks and now he won't even be in the office my last two weeks of pregnancy. I am disappointed to say the least.

I had GBS with my DD. Basically they just give you some penicillin via an IV. Just make sure the nurse knows what she's doing to dilute it, otherwise it will burn. I had a little bit of a cold on Monday and gave birth on Wednesay. As strange as it sounds, I think that the penicillin got rid of the cold symptoms. Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. You'll be fine, just be sure to mention it when checking into the hospital. Good luck:)
