I am 36 1/2 weeks and tired of being pregnant. I took castor oil at 7 p.m. tonight, maybe earlier and it's 5 a.m. now and nothing. No bathroom trips or anything. I am hoping when I go to the doctor next Tuesday she will tell me I am dialiated to at least 4 so she'll send me to the hospital. I'm so tired of being pregnant!

I know how you feel stephanie. I'm going to my last scheduled appt with my doc today. Hoping for good news!

does anyone else think its 36 1/2 weeks, even 37 weeks is a bit early to try and induce your own labor?! am i just crazy? that can't be too healthy for the baby. i hope im not sounding like a hypocrit because i took the castor oil but i was 39 weeks! and my kid might as well have come out walking! hes 3 weeks old and ALREADY too big for the 0-3 months clothes! so i think my case was slightly more necessary... anyways, just my two cents, i know everyone has their own opinion and we're all gonna do whatever we want despite what anyone else says right? :)

It is early, there's no denying that. It's just that when you hit that 36 month mark you are pretty much tired of being pregnant! I felt that way and tried castor oil at 36 wks and it did nothing for me. I'm feverishly finding ways to induce labor. I hate being pregnant. I've hated it since day 1. I just want it to be over and done with. People say enjoy this time but I can't! I pee every 10 minutes, everything hurts, I hate my body, etc, etc, etc!!! It's impossible to relax right now. My mind is preoccupied with thoughts of "whens the baby going to come? when? when? when?????

In response to a post by Maleficent... I think it's a wrongful a__sessment that you say castor oil is "REALLY not safe..." okay, inform us on what's not safe about it. Castor oil as a means of inducing birth is a common usage in my family, I was born that way as was my mother, and we all came out healthy and strong. Yes, castor oil causes diarhea and is usually used for constipation... but it works as a means of inducing labor if mother and baby are ready. In fact, there is little to nothing that is unsafe about it... please only make informed posts in the future as people who may not know better turn use this resource to make informed decisions, not ones based off of someone else's fear and biases.

I am with Brittany on this one - I can't wait for this pregnancy is OVER. I hurt everywhere ...can't sleep because of the discomfort. Now recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I can't even enjoy an icecream cone or chocolate bar or even a french frie anymore because all of those throw my sugars out of wack. It is depressing...........I am 38 weeks and starting my 39th....still counting the days...

Jay what day are you due? I'm due Sept 1st, orignally it was August 27. Hang in there. Pregnancys sucking right now but there's not much you can do BUT wait!!!

well, i definitely hope you guys dont think i was being judgemental :) i DO understand how you feel. i didnt have gestational diabetes but i still had a large baby and it was ALL baby, my stomach was sooo tight and i was hurting too in my hips and back and you know, all the 'typical' places, but i will say that, even though i had nothing of what you would call all too 'serious' this pregnancy was by far worse than most things i could imagine myself enduring... if anyone knows what a bartholins abcess is, i had 3... large and soo painful i didnt want to walk or sit or wear clothing and i had to work, a maintenance job at walmart they put me on vicodin and i was about... 4 months prego... two sinus infections along with two rounds of antibiotics (one for the abcesses, one for 1 of the sinus infections) a yeast infection, heartburn everyday (literally) and THEN a calcified kidney stone when i was about 6/7 months due to the fact that i was taking tums like crazy for heartburn! so i DO relate to the hells of pregnancy. my first pregnancy was TOTALLY by the book... sick like hell for 4 months then fine the rest of the time, beautiful skin, nails AND hair and a healthy glow. though the frequent urination i think is something even the most fortunate pregnant woman has to go through... :) the difference in the morning sickness between my two pregnancies were, my first one, when i was nauseated, i would get sick and be perfectly fine afterwards, the second time... i was sick through pretty much the WHOLE pregnancy but it was more like i just FELT ill all the time, i didnt really actually 'get sick' too much but i felt like i had the flu like the entire 9 months! it totally sucked. i'm with you ladies, i HATED being pregnant. im so happy with my kids but i dont miss it ONE bit and i had my tubes tied so it will NEVER happen again - i hope but if it does by some strange miracle (my tubes would have to reattach themselves) then i guess its meant to be :) i'm keeping my fingers crossed that its not. pregnancy wreaks total havoc on your body! oh- and with my first one, i had NOT ONE stretch mark but gained 60 lbs (10lbs after all was said and done) THIS time, i have a lovely stomach covered with stretch marks now. i mean, ill get over it but im a little sad about it, however, i gained only 40lbs this time and have already lost 33 of it and my son is almost 4 weeks old (10 lbs of it at least was my baby stuff though!) anyways, im sure ive said enough, good luck to you and your babies. im sure theyre all healthy and youll be done with it soon! :)

I took castor oil with my first pregnancy, 2tblspns mixed with OJ, at about 9pm. I was dialated to a 2 and 50% efaced at the time. I woke up at about 7am the next morning with mild contractions that did not hurt a bit. By about 11am the contractions were 4-5 minutes apart so I went to the hospital. I was admitted and my daughter was born at 2:44pm that day. I never had diareah or painful cramps. I am now 38weeks along and 2centimeters dialated and 80% efaced and will be drinking casor oil with this baby tomorrow. I told my Dr. that I planned on doing this and she told me good luck and hoped it worked!! Now if it was that dangerous don't you think she would tell me to not do it? Anyways, I definantly agree that your body has to be ready to go into labor for it to work but I could be wrong...So I say go ahead and try it. I'll keep you posted on what happens with me!!!

My wife is on our second child. 41 weeks. With our first son, she saw 5 different OB/GYN doctors, all of which stated castor oil was harmful to take during pregnancy. It has been proven that it causes the child to have bowel movements inside the womb, which is ingested during birth. With our second child, the sixth OB/GYN has told us the same thing and has shown us the studies to confirm this. I noticed a few people mention that their parents and grandparents used it and had no problems, but look at how far we have come medically since then. When my mother was pregnant with me, doctors were telling her to drink an 8oz gla__s of wine every day.

I tryed castor oil lastnight.. I it did for me is put you into alot of pain.. it cause diarea, alot of cramping, nauseated. It was disgusting drinking it. It tasted like wax. But I toke it at around 9 lastnight and I'm still feeling it, So if it do work I will let you guys know. I hope that I do.

Jess - August 27

still not working I'm not in hospital.... Just having alot of pains.. Its now been almost 24 hours since I toke it .. No baby yet...

Shandra - August 27

Jess...have you been checked by your Dr. recently to see if you are dialated or efaced yet? I know from alot of what I have read that it works better if your body is already showing signs of early labor. Also how much did you take when you took it? Maybe you need to repeat the dose? Anyways, good luck, I hope it works. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I'll be taking it around 8 tonight. Maybe next time I write I will have my son!!! Talk to you all soon!
