what do contractions feel like? or braxton hix? i dont think id be able to tell.. somtimes i have a sharp pain in my stomach that last a couple seconds but my stomach never gets hard.. & sometimes my stomach will get hard but with no pain.. any answers??

If your stomach is getting hard it is most likely braxton hicks (practice contractions), as they are not usually painful, though sometimes uncomfortable. Contractions during labour on the other hand usually start out more of a crampy feeling & last at least 20seconds, over time they gradually get stronger, more painful, come closer together & last for longer. I suggest talking to your midwife for more info. Oh & if this is your 1st pregnancy you may not notice any braxton hicks until your in your 3rd trimester (some women never seem to notice them), but they start happening from the beginning of pregnancy so don't worry.
