How do you all know how dialated you are? I am 35 weeks and have never been told anything like this at all... Is my doc susposed to have checked me by now? I am concerned because the last two nights I have had BH contractions reg 5-6 mins apart for 2 hours then I fall asleep..... Wake up and have mild cramping in my abs and back? any suggestions?

i dont know either. with my 2 previous pregnancies i was never checked until labour, with this pregnancy iam almost 36wks and and have not been checked yet. i think it depends on your doc/midwife. all you can really do is ask at your next appt if they are planning on checking you and if so, when? goodluck!

I was first checked at 35 weeks, only because I had been having frequent BH contractions for several weeks. The next time you see your doctor, tell them about your contractions and they will probably check you. I am now 38 weeks and they have checked me every week since because of my frequent contractions. I have only dilated to a 2 in three weeks, and have been having regular contractions since 34 weeks. As far as having regular contractions, I was at the hospital twice last week having regular contractions 3 minutes apart and still was not in true labor. Right now I am still having fairly regular contractions along with back pain and crampiness, and the only thing that helps is taking a warm bath and trying to think of anything besides whether or not I'm in labor. I know, it is very frustrating. Hang in there.

Deanna, I would just ask your doc to check you, otherwise I have posted a way on here to check yourself if your comfortable doing that. Good luck :)
