I have also heard pineapple helps, and marching up and down the stairs. Becarefull of your balance. Nothing will induce labour though if you have not already started to dialate on your own. Induced labour is perfectly fine though! Don't worry. It is not that bad, I had it twice and am due next week and am not at all worried about being induced if it comes to that. You can do it!!!!

I have read all the way up to August 9th and a lot of these are the same answers. For those of you asking for suggestions, why don't you try reading the long list first? I am 37 weeks right now but I am not going to try and induce myself until the end of November because my doctor is moving away on the 1st and my due date is the 7th. I wan't him to deliver it because he has been my doctor throughout this whole pregnancy....soooo I've got to try for before he leaves. Anyways, I have done some research of my own and the only suggestions I have for inducing labor that have not been listed here are; 1) sit on the washer while it is going hard....it's supposed to help wiggle the baby furthar down. 2) masturbate....to be blunt, if the s_x if uncomfortable just do it yourself...the orgasims from masturbating are stronger than from s_x itself (we do it better ourselves) and that helps release oxytocin. 3)Cinnamon stick tea is supposed to help start contractions and relax you in the mean while. 4) If you hold your bladder it can cause labor to begin I heard.
For those of you who want to know how long labor will be after the baby drops....well.... your baby could drop and you could be dilated for up to 4-6 weeks. With my first child I was dilated 3 centimetres for 5 weeks and I still went to 41 weeks. I have never ever tried to induce myself but my sister did 3 weeks early with castor oil. she tried it and puked all night. It didn't work. Then she tried it again a week later and it did so maybe she just wasn't ready the first time. One more thing I must say... alot of women on here say they will get back and they don't...guess their ideas worked!!
I've heard a few mention red wine...what does that do? Anyone know?

Thank you, Crystal!!!!!!!
That was much needed. I think we all need to PROMISE that we will get back!!!! ...even if it takes time. I think I would like to try castor oil, but I'm a little nervous about it. I'm also going to look into cinamin stick tea and buy a pineapple because hell, pineapple is tasty anyway. Why not try??? I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea to no avail, but I f igure it cannot hurt. My mom also swears by tunafish salad made by the tunafish that is canned in olive oil. She swears it worked for all three of her children. IF I don't have a baby by thanksgiving, she has promised to whip up the recipe. I WILL get back to you. Its good to know that we all feel the same sense of desperation and anticipation.

I would liek to sy that i have tried all the walking early on, from about 36weeks onwards to help push the baby down there, rocking and squats as well (half ones though, full ones are not recommended if you have vericous viens or sore knees/previous knee injurys). I have treid castor oil, first time i took it i had contractions for 4 hrs but then they stopped, with no side effects so i tried again the next day and all i had was the runs! not fun! and my stomach made the most weirdest noises. Its been another day and im tempted to try again as i am 39 weeks and 1 day , and i am due the 23rd, i am just scared that because i had a threatened preterm labour at 33weeks i might not have this one naturally :/..But i will be trying the castor oil again and i will bookmark this page and let you know what happens! But unfortunatly, labour will only come if you and the baby is ready, taken me awhile to accept that!

i'm 38 weeks pegnant and my ob/gyn wants to induce me beacuse he thinks the baby is a bit small. I'm a lil scared even though ive had 2 kids already has anyone been induced before? if so does it hurt more than natural labour?

Krystle....I have been induced with both of my kids and I don't think it hurts. Infact, it gets things moving quicker and right down to business which is what I would prefer for something like labor.....not really something I would usually enjoy.

I have read that the meal eggplant parmesian has put many women into labor. A Italian restuarant in Cobb County Georgia makes this meal and they have said pregnant women come there all the time and its put over 300 customers into labor, and if it doesnt work they give you another free meal. You can get the full recipie at Pregnancy and Baby.com just click on recipies for labor induction. Im 38 weeks pregnant and have tried everything but this, so Im going to start cooking.

OK. Im due Dec 5. and i just can't wait any longer. The pain and in my back and legs along with Braxton Hicks are absolutely unbearable. This is my third pregnancy but this one is giving me the most pain in my hip area. All the doc recommends is exercises which are not helping.
I tried castor oill with my first two and it only gave me diarhea. I just got over that flu bug after 4 days of the runs so I am not interested in having anymore diarhea.
Im sitting here eating mac n cheese n A1. Since last week I started walking for 30 minutes morning and night. Let's see how this works.

Like most of you I was feeling impatient tired sore, etc. I was to be due Dec 11th and I took evening primrose oil capsules two orally and 1 v____ally on the 15, 16, and 17th of this month, I also had s_x those days and on friday the 18th I went to the mall and walked around for 2-3 hours. Had s_x friday night at midnoght and by 3pm my water broke had the baby at 9am november 19th..... She was consider a premature baby but she is healthy as if she was carried to term the doctors said. SO thats what worked for me, but then again everyone is different... Doesn't hurt to try it!!!!

I know this sounds weird, but I had a pedicure. While I was in the chair, my baby dropped and I lost my mucous plug, and 3 days later I gave birth (naturally) Worth a shot..

castor oil does work however i would never recomend it it gives you the worst labor ever, what it does is gives you very painful diarrehea which gives you contractions which are painful enough all by them self plus the fact that you risk pooping all over the doctor while giving birth trust me not the way to go!! try rasberry tea this works well to induce labor, also get on your hands and kness and sway back and forth while reading a book or watching tv this puts baby in position, if nothing else fails try having s_x i know its uncomfortabe but there is a hormone in male sperm that softens the cervix, but for heavens sakes dont drink wine or any alcohol that just cant be good for you or baby.
