does nipple stimulation really start labor? and if so how long do you do it for?

Well, Cece, I'm over 40 weeks, I'm dialated 1cm, but the baby is still floating, my next apt isn't until 10/11. Anyway, it was suggested to me to try nipple stimulation, and it can work, but I believe only based on once again the dreaded words "if your body is ready for labor" You have to do it for a long time, preferably with an electric b___st pump, because you have to simulate a baby sucking for the uterus to contract. I will tell you though I did it last night for 7HOURS and yes, I have contractions that were painful, and somewhat regular, but once I stopped...the contractions stopped. I resumed this morning but my have my womanly house duties to tend to so I had to stop. I will continue to do it throughout the day one nipple at a time and I will let you know if I have progress.
