Debbie, which method did you use, meaning what movement meant what? I'm only asking because there's so many versions of it. Thanks.

My sister in laws family has done the pencil test on every woman for like the past 100 years or something like that and it has never been wrong yet. Even if its not scientific its still fun to play with. It hasn't proved wrong for me yet and i have done this fun little test on several women in my family and my friends.

I heard that the real and genuine test goes like this: make a pendulum of anything, basically hang something on thread or necklace. Hang it over your belly, keep it still. If it moves left to right - girl, head to toe - boy. If it moves in circles th ependulum is thinking, just wait until it moves in a straight direction. To find out all the children you will have, hang it over your wrist and wait until it completely stops. again, circles mean it's thinking and is redirecting itself.

Luna, the method I read about, and which proved so accurate (though it is different to some listed here) was to suspend my wedding ring (or a pencil) from a piece of cotton over my wrist. Circle means girl and swinging from side to side (any direction) means boy. The ring/pencil slows down or stops between pregnancies and stops completely when it is finished. It always tells me boy, girl then stops completely. I gave birth to my son in July so am hoping that it it correct and that I will also have a little girl in the future : -)

I just did the pencil test: My mom has done it for years, always accurate! When she would do it to me when I was younger, It did crazy stuff so I freaked out and wouldn't let her do it......Well, It does side to side (girl), then small circle (change), then diagonal (towards my thumb) ***any idea what DIAGONAL is?** then small circle (change) then goes back & forth (boys) Big Circles (Twins) then Diagonal again then small circle (change), then back & forth (boy)?!?!?!? Wish I knew what diagonal meant. I do not having any children yet, but I completely believe in this test!!

my aunt did this and she had 4 girls and 1 boy and the test showed that in the exact order, my groundma did this and it said she would have 2 girls and 2 boys...she only had 3 kids so we thought it was wrong...then she told us that her 2 pregnancy she miscarried...a girl. this really does work and i have done it many times.

Brandi which direction did you determine boy and girl? So many peopel are doing it differently. I thought girl was from finger tips to elbow and boy was side to side???

Danielle,
side to side is a girl and finger tip to elbow is a boy. i have done this on many people and that is how we go by things...its always accurate.

I've never heard of this test before but have since tried it out. It has accurately show the gender of my children and I'm currently pregnant again.
I have six children to date and this is what the pencil did for me - firstly it swings in a circle then swings from my fingers & towards my wrist (boy), followed by the circle between babies then across my wrist (girl). It continues to do the circles between each baby, then rightfully shows a boy, boy, boy, boy. These are the children that I have, I have been luckly enough never to have experienced a miscarriage. But for the pregnancy that I am currently experiencing the pencil swings across my wrist and then swings from my finger tips towards my wrist with no break (circle) between -TWINS?
I have a different partner for my first 4 children and so I did this test on my current partner (who has no other children but our 2 boys and the new comer) and it did the very same thing to him as it did to me. As I am only nine weeks pregnant I will let everybody know when I have a scan if the test is right for me this time but six out of six so far is pretty good.
(Oh I've also tried this test on a few of my girlfriends and it was right with them too!)

Pencil test said girl. Ultrasound said girl. Chinese lunar calendar said boy. I am almost certain I am having a girl, and the pencil test has worked on everyone we have tried it on. We used a needle on a piece of thread stuck in the eraser of the pencil. It said girl then boy on my mom, correct, then it said girl then boy on my aunt (correct), and it said gil, boy, then girl on me. My ultrasound said girl too. We did it on my bf just for fun and it said girl, boy, then girl. So well have to see if we have a girl, then a boy, and then another girl, but this one is a girl.
