I been having contractions about 5-6 mins apart that last about 30 seconds..this been going on for half an hour. How long should I wait before I call the midwife? Like how many should I keep track of?

Hi...You can ring your midwife at any time.......Just ring her let her know what you have stated above, and she can advise you on what to do, as she knows you best :)
Good luck, and how exciting that this might be it :D

Contractions should be closer to a minute long. But you can always call your midwife to find out because even if they are braxton hicks, those can bring on true labor.

my midwife said dont bother timming them or phoning unless i cant talk throught the contractions, otherwise she said mihgt just be false labour and you waste your time and energy.

I have had contrations like that for 3weeks. I am 4cm 90% and +1 station. They get more intense for awhile the slow down. Still no change. Good luck to you, it really bites to have them all the time.

You should call when contractions are 4- 5 min apart and last 45sec to a min for over an hour. I have a hospital form right here, and it also says true labor contractions become stronger with walking or resting, it also says if you are three weeks before you due date contact your physcian immediately. Good luck

I've heard about the 4-1-1 rule... 4 minute apart contractions, at least 1 minute in length, for 1 hour or more...
