Hey there -- is anyone else planning on having an elective induction? I'm due on Dec 30th and my dh has to go away *again* with the Canadian military on Jan 4th so my OB is looking at anywhere from the 26-28th. Anyone else??

Hey. I am due on 20th December. My doctors are going away for christmas around that time.In order not to have relief staff, I am being induced on the 12th....Monday! I am starting to get anxious now....only 1 more day to go.

Wow - that's so soon! I would be absolutely beside myself with excitement. Do you know what method they're using to induce you? (gel, pitocin etc)

They will be giving me an internal examination first, if I am already dilated they will break my water. Since it is my first baby they think that is unlikely and will be using the gel. Only 12 Hrs, 15 mins to go! (8am tomorrow) I am very excited, but getting so scared and nervous now.

Hi Ang, Dec. 30th is my birthday and 10 year wedding anniversary, I was induced this past Saturday. My due date was today Dec. 11th, had an 8 pound baby girl. I was given pitocin at about 2:30- 3:00pm, to start off the contractions, and gave birth at 11:10p.m.

I am due dec 22, which is two days away. I went to the doctors yesterday and talked with her about inducing me. She told me that with this being my first pregnancy it is better to let body takes its course cuz sometimes your body won't take to the pitocin and she may have to do a cesarean. I am schedualed to be induced though dec 28 which would make me one week past due. I just wish he would come now.

I was induced early cause of pre-eclampsia, and ended up having a c-section cause the baby got caught on my pelvic bone. The actual induction wasn't that bad...I checked into the hospital at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night, they started the pitocin drip at 7 p.m...I started having really small contractions around maybe 8 p.m.? They just felt like menstrual cramps...anyway, I slept through the night, then the doctor came in at 7 a.m., checked to see how dilated I was - by that time, after 12 hours of a really slow pitocin drip, I was about 5 cm dilated, and fully effaced, so the doctor broke my water; the contractions started getting bad around noon...I was fully dilated by 4 p.m. and started pushing...I pushed for 2 hours before the doctor recommended a c-section. The main thing, though - some inductions are real quick, others take a long time...make sure you bring something to do! A book, movies, whatever...just something to occupy your mind if your induction is on the slower side.
