Labor STOPPING Please Help

My due date is tomorrow and last night, I started to feel what felt like very intense braxton hicks contractions that gave me a lot of pressure and pain in my abdomen... I didn't really think very much of them until they had not stopped for 2 hours... i had never had them last that long. Then, I started feeling my back contract a little with my tummy. Gradually, the contractions in my back got extremely painful, much harder, and they were coming every 10 1/2 minutes, almost exactly!! I also had lingering pain in my back and hips. No matter what I did...walk, stand, sit... they just kept coming. I was almost positive this was early labor... It had lasted a total of about 6 1/2 hours and then the pain just STOPPED, and I was back to just those regular, painless, braxton hicks contractions and was able to fall asleep! Has anyone ever had this happen?!? Please help.
Also... if something like this were to happen again, and my contractions would get around 5 minutes apart (when my doctor said to call)... Should I have already seen blood or anything... or could it be real labor even without a show?

I've done that for weeks before I actually delivered. On the plus side, my labors were pretty short.
