Ladies, for those of you who went through labor already, was Lamaz useful? I am not sure whether I should take it (really don't want to but will if it's useful). I will have a doula.
Thanks

I didnt take any Lamaz cla__ses. They have nurses in the room with you that will help you with your breathing. I asked a friend who took the cla__ses and she said it wasn't bad but not really needed.

I don't think it's necessary to take a cla__s that teaches you to breathe.....lol. But it may be useful for some.

Hi Hannah, I'm taking Lamaz cla__ses and they teach you all sorts of things about your pregnancy and labor that you really wouldn't know at all if you don't like to read. As long as you read up about your pregnancy you pretty much know all the stuff they teach you in that respect. The rest is breathing, ma__sage, aromatherapy techniques and ways to help labor progress faster. I'm finding that side of things really helpful. Take it if you feel that you still have a lot of questions about labor and the birth (like episitomies, pain meds, different positions you could use in labor etc)

I took a cla__s called "childbirth preparation" and thought it was very helpful. They do more than just the breathing. They actually told us what to expect every step of the way through L&d. It was very informative and I also found it eased my fear of giving birth. We spent a lot of time watching videos (good videos on childbirth), asking questions and some positions we could put ourselves into to feel more comfortable during labor. I am sure each hospital is different on what kinds of things they do in these cla__ses. I would call them and find out what they have planned in the cla__ses. I think then it would be easier for you to make a decision.

Ladies, thanks for your responses. Very helpful. I fugured i won't take the cla__ses, since I am hiring a doula who is an OB RN anyway. and she should be able to tell me what to do when i am there.
