i am 36 weeks,i went to the docs on monday and she said i was 2cm dilated, and then last i lost that mucous plug. i keep getting pains in my lower back that come and go, but they really do hurt. does that mean anything??

Yes it can , many women get pain in thier back. During labor the apins should become regular and over time get closer and more painful ( some dont get regular) The first stage normaly lasts for 12hours for the first pregnancy. If your waters break then that is another sign that it will not be long.
