I have not heard of it - the earliest surviving premmie I found, was 22 weeks. What is wrong with the baby? Are they expecting it to survive?

Thats called an abortion. There is NO WAY that this baby can survive...

The age of viability is right around 22 weeks. But even then the rate of survival isn't the greatest.

the doctors made her have it.. its not an abortion.... the baby's limbs and organs havent grown since 3 months... so they made her induce so they can test the baby to see whats going on

They are aborting that baby. a 19 week gestation is NOT viable. At all. Earliest age of possible viability is 22 weeks. Before that, all the organs haven't even developed.

Its not an abortion, they are inducing the birth and there is a chance at life, however small. Any abortion argument is inappropriate in response to this post and who are we to judge? I am sorry for your friend, Ashes, she will need your help and support through what is going to be a terribly sad time for her.

Mel... please research. At 19 weeks gestation, there is 0% chance of the fetus surviving outside the womb. Use what ever word you want, but by delivering that baby, they are ending it's life. Since it has aparently stopped growing, perhaps it is just a premature ending of a life that would shortly end on it's own...

There is no way possible for this baby to live..I am sorry to say that, but I agree with everyone else the chance of having a baby live at even 23 weeks is pretty low and then they have major problems later in life most of the time. All I can say is be there for your friend and help her cope.

Yes it is horrible that the mother will have to go through this, but when i pregnancy is terminated (by whom ever) it called an abortion. I am VERY sorry for the mother, however it boggles my mind why the Dr would take this baby so early, when it is NOT going to make it at this age reguardless. Can you get more information Ashes?

I had two miscarriages, one at eight weeks and one at eleven weeks. The doctors referred to both as spontanious abortions. (meaning my body expelled the baby on it's own) They used that word in front of the word abortion. It still made me angry. Everytime someone would come in the room and use that word I would speak up and say 'miscarriage'. My SIL lost a baby at twenty weeks. It was stillborn. It's so sad to lose a baby at any stage of pregnancy! Please give your friend my heartfelt apologies! So sad!

The baby ended up dying in the womb before they could induce her.. she got to hold her little girl twice and they named her lilly.... thanks to everyone who responded i was confused on why she was asked to induce.. but she did let me know afterwards that it was best this way,
