Naturally Inducing Labour

I don't really think anything works. I have heard of so many things working for some women, and not for others. Many people just a__sociate whatever they were doing before they went into labour with 'starting' their labour. My sister really really wanted to go into labour at 38 weeks, she took castor oil, black cohosh, used evening primrose oil and 'curb-walked' for almost an entire day. Her contractions started but she had 7 days of mild contractions before her son finally showed up. Having said all that, trying spicy foods, nipple stimulation and s_x certainly cant hurt, and if they work for you, Awesome!

I wouldnt get induced if I were you. I know that you really really want to see your baby ASAP, but it seems as if you are on your way naturally, so I wouldnt risk getting induced. I heard it can be dangerous and more painful. But really, it's up to you. Good luck

Girl, I feel bad for you! I can't stand the 90 degree weather we are having here. I've actually been lucky and had a few days of rain. I hate rain but now I beg for it. I went to the doctor Wednesday (I think you said you hadn't dilated any either, which means we are both in the same boat, with due dates three days apart.) and the doctor told me that we could talk about induction after I began to dilate. Even though my doctor's office will induce as early as 39 wks. they won't even discuss it until I begin to dilate because they said it dramatically increases the risks of a c-section. Maybe that is why your doc won't induce right now. I guess I'll be helping my daughter with her homework while I'm in the hospital and I guess she will just have to miss some school to get to know her little brother. I would love to have a couple of days to learn to b___stfeed and get used to having a baby around again before I have to deal with the stresses of first grade but I guess my son has other plans. As for you, hang in there girl! I hope you get some reprieve from that weather. -Jenn

I just want everyone to know that the Evening Primrose Oil that is supposed to help ripen your cervix hasn't done anything for me. I'll be 38 weeks this Friday and I haven't dilated at all and I have been taking the EPO since 34 weeks orally and v____ally. The pills were very inexpensive so I guess it doesn't hurt to try but at this point, I think it is all just coincidental. I was only dilated 1 cm with my daughter and I was 41 weeks when I was induced with her and I thought the EPO would help with my 2nd child. Nope. I don't want to take hope away from anyone because most of these natural labor induction methods aren't very expensive to begin with but I think it makes no difference and if you go into labor after trying to induce yourself naturally, it's coincidental. I guess it never hurts to try but I think I am just going to sit directly in front of the air conditioner with a tall gla__s of water and the latest copy of Parents and wait my little heart out.

I couldnt have planned a better day myself. The only reason I'm getting dressed today is because I have a dr. appt. I'll threaten his life if they tell me I'm not dilated or effaced. I'd rather they just lied to me!!! -Jenny

Let me know how that doctor's appointment goes. I hope you get good news. I'd like to know that at least one of us is. I've spent my last two appointments crying all the way home. To be honest, since I was overdue with my daughter and they induced me, I'm scared to experience actually going into labor on my own. I was in the hospital when I felt my first breathtaking contraction and they gave me demoral immediately. I'm scared of what it will feel like to have to go through some labor without the comforting rea__surance of the hospital staff.

Well the doctor's appt wasnt so bad... Although I'm disappointed they didnt tell me that I was unknowingly dilated to 8 and needed admitted ASAP, they did tell me I was dilated to 1cm, and the baby had just dropped, and she's completely engaged and she should be dilating my cervix quite rapidly from now on... hmmm. I'm only starting to efface though, so I dont know if I'm happy or not. I guess I have to take it. I go again on Wednesday. My baby shower is tomorrow, and I'm seriously going to try castor oil after Wednesday if nothing's going on. After all, if nothing's happening, why not try to give it a push? (p.s. my husband insists we should continue to try the s_x method... but I dont think he's doing it for the benefit of labor induction lol)

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. You have a start now. You know for sure that your baby and your body are preparing for labor. I'm so excited for you. I would be so happy if I went to my doctor's appointment on wednesday and they told me I was dilated 1 cm. Then they would be able to induce me so that the baby could be born before my daughter starts 1st grade next Thursday. I really want for her to be a part of this and I can't just yank her out of school for a few days when she just started back. She goes to her daddy's on weekends so there is no time there. Well, good luck to you. I'm really excited for you! -Jenn

Good luck!! I really hope that the doc gives you good news on Wednesday! I know that your little girl wants to be a part of the baby and everything, and I hope that works out for you. But if it doesn't, just rea__sure her of how much you love her and after school try to include her as much as possible. Hopefully, though, it won't be a problem and you'll be telling me you're be induced asap!! Good luck! -Jenny

get some labor balm. it rubs all over your belly, it's a really great remity for inducing labor, you apply it every 2-6 hours, works within 24-72 hours, its better than having a doc induce so ive heard. it also helps ease the pain of labor. price is only 13 bucks

I just went to the doctor today. I will be 39 wks. on Friday and I still haven't begun to dilate. Just wonderful. Good news is, since my little girl starts school on Thursday and her Open House is on Tuesday, I probably won't have to miss out because I'm sure I won't be having a baby anytime soon. I heard that labor balm works really good too. From what I hear it is supposed to help ease alot of the pain of the contractions also and it's only like $13. Sounds like a good deal to me. Unfortunately for me, nothing is going to help because you have to begin to dilate before any kind of natural induction will work. At least that's what I hear and nothing has worked for me yet so it must be true. Hey Jenny, you should try that labor balm and see if it works for you!

WHERE DO I GET SOME LABOR BALM!?! It sounds like a miracle to me! lol Hey Jenn, maybe you're not dilating on purpose b/c Baby #2 knows that you really want to be there for your little girl! Then the baby will wait until a friday to be born so your daughter can spend the weekend with the family w/o missing school! lol, i have it all worked out for you!! I went to the dr. I feel kinda guilty telling you I'm 2cm and 25% effaced. It was weird bc I saw one of the other dr's in the practice this time, and he's got his hand where the sun dont shine and he's telling me that he can feel the top of her head, like the size and shape, perfectly. That just made me 2,456 more anxious to have her come out so that I can feel her head and count her toes and everything. My husband's starting to get antsy too, but I guess we just have to wait until she's done holing up in there. Now, where do i get that LABOR BALM!!!!!!!????? lol

To Jenn - August 18

They guarantee it's arrival in 2-3 days. Just enter in labor balm under the search and it will take you right to it. -From Jenn
