Pineapple anyone? I just found this today...
Folk Medicine: Pineapple juice is taken as a diuretic and to expedite labor... The flesh of very young (toxic) fruits is deliberately ingested (a little with honey on 3 successive mornings)...

I have tried the whole castor oil thing only, with the first one it brought on just bad runs and the second one it brought on labour, but i was in labour for 13 hours. I am 38 weeks prego with the 3rd one and I just tried castor oil again but couldn't hold it down. I am going to try evening primrose oil tomorrow. I wouldn't suggest castor oil. I heard it can diminish your nutrients and the nutrients going to your baby, neighbour is a nurse. Well good luck and I hope all goes well.

Oh ladies, I know how you feel about wanting to get labour moving. I spent months counting down to my due date (18th April), which came and went without incident. Bit of an anti-climax, really. I'm eating copious amounts of fresh pineapple, drinking raspberry leaf tea, and having long walks in the evenings which, whilst it may be good for your general health, doesn't seem to be encouraging the onset of labour!
Having read all the entries on this page, it's made me realise that having a healthy baby is the most important thing, and whilst I will keep on with the pineapple and raspberry leaf tea, I don't want to do anything that could jeopardise the health of my baby. Guess I'll have to be more patient - baby will decide when it's ready to come into the world.
Good luck to everyone - I hope your birth experiences are all you hope they will be. Good luck, all!

I just gotmhome from the hospital yesterday with my new baby girl. I am so desperate to get the process started, and I will tell you i went with the simple walking and the night before I went into labor although there wasn't anything further from my mind we tried having s_x, and 5 hours later my labor was starting 8 hours later i had my first born. So walking and s_x is my suggestion. i wouldn't try drinking anything it can be harmful to the baby. good luck

My due date is today and I'm still pregnant. It's getting harder now because on Thursday my doctor said not to go back to work because of my raised blood pressure (no toxemia just PIH). Anyway, I go back on Tuesday and if my cervix is riper she is going to induce me on Wednesday. I never wanted to be induced but I trust my doctor. She's the one that said last week that I wasn't ready, even though the baby was. She didn't want me to have an unnecessary c-section, which is a high probability if they induce you b4 your body is ready. I respect her decision. I feel the baby will come when ready and a doctor should never induce b4 it is necessary. When we all got pregnant we knew it wasn't going to be a walk in the park. Stay calm and your babies will be here screaming for food b4 you know it!!!

I am online here.. searching all OVER the net for ways to induce labour for a good friend of mine who is due in 2 days (April 28th). I have one daughter who is 10 yrs old and I was overdue by a week and a half before being medically induced - but I tried EVERYTHING you can THINK of. It's not as though you would rather your child be in NICU or anything like that, it's just that you are SOOO tired of being pregnant and the anticipation is crazy - so I can empathize with my friend and all of you. The conversation on here is helpful- AND comical haha. I will send her the link and maybe it will help her out as well. Her Dr won't induce until May 6th, and she is SO bent AGAINST even thinking about going into the month of MAY ...STILL PREGO! So, I'm tryin' to help her as much as possible. Good luck to all of you. :)

I posted an entry about a week ago, saying how I was keen for baby to arrive, but knew it would be along when it was ready....? Well, she arrived on Monday 25th April, at 8:10am, after a 6hr labour (not bad for a first child!). She was born at home, without pain relief, and it was the most wonderful and empowering experience of my life. I guess the raspberry leaf tea worked - the midwives are certainly of that opinion, and said afterwards that whilst they cannot recommend women use it, many of them have used it themselves, and would do again! Anyhow, that rounds off my little story amongst all these others - I hope you all have fantastic experiences like I did, however it comes about!

Well for the last past three days i've been drinking Castor Oil and i'm still close to 38 weeks pregnant with a stubborn baby girl, Maybe it only works for some people or maybe it was just their time to deliver, You think?

someone said "My friend tried the castrol oil 3ml mixed in OJ she delivered that night less than two hours after she drank it. " could be because it is ENGINE OIL!! AND EXTREMELY TOXIC AND COULD KILL YOU!! drink CASTOR oil, not CASTROL!!!!

Well I'm 41+, have been 2-3 cm for two weeks and I have tried cod liver oil, pineapple, rasberry leaf tea, painting,b___st stimulation, jogging, s_x, almost everthing and still I sit here very much pregnant. I am realizing however that no matter what you try that your baby will arrive when it's ready, there isn't really anything you can do.

I have had 2 children and am pregnant with my third one now and due on june 14. With both of my children i drank the 2oz of castor oil w/orange juice, but also with that i waited 30 mins and then did the pressure point in my ankles and it worked one child it took and hour and then i was in full b__wn labour and the second child was 45 mins and 3.5 weeks early. What you do is go on the inside of your foot, find your ankle bone and go up two to three finger widths (not lengths) you will feel the pressure point when you push there. With very firm pressure push for 10 seconds and release do it over about 5 times. if you do not feel tightening in your uterus, try it for 20 seconds. IT REALLY WORKS!!! I have also heard that it will work without the castor oil as well, but have only done it with the castor oil and it worked like a charm for me and my sister and my mother. My best friend tried it 3 and a half weeks ago and it also worked for her and so she now has a beautiful bouncing baby boy who was perfectly healthy and was 3 weeks early. Neighbour tried it this morning and is now in labour in the hospital at 2 weeks early, they figure she will definetly give birth today. GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!!!!

Jennifer, Regarding the pressure point, can you be more specific about where it is? Is it on the inside of the calf? Does it matter which leg? I can't seem to find a pressure point in that area. I have been having regular contractions (3-5 minutes apart) but they have stopped and now I'm desparate. My due date is tomorrow and I would like to have this baby by then.

I am pregnant with my third child and due in less than 2 weeks. My last baby is only 10 1/2 months old and I have heard that having kids very close means you are more likely to have it early but nothing as yet. I am trying evening primrose oil both orally and v____ally, and s_x. The oil mean there is no need for KY lubricant, hahaha! With my other 2 kids I found the baby came when it was most inconvienient. With my first my contractions became stronger after 3 1/2 days of latent labour while we were at the vet getting our cat put to sleep and I delivered the next morning. I was worn out from crying over the cat and I think the stress put me into real labour. With my second baby I was due to be induced when I was 9 days overdue right after a uni exam. The doctor was sure I would not go on my own and I would be better off if I waited untill after my exam rather that the week before. Everyone else said I would not make it to my exam and they were right. I delivered the day before and was still in hospital. I would not advise castor oil as it did not work for me, but my bum was terribly blistered and sore and I felt so weak from having the runs that I don;t think I could have handled labour if it had worked. I suggest making exciting plans. Murphys law says if you make plans then you will be sure to deliver when you don;t want to. hahaha!
Good luck with your pregnancies and labours, girls!
